Sawn-split stones

• “pencil” – sawn sides + split top and bottom. It is advisable to use paving stones “pencil” for paving surfaces with heavy traffic, because natural stone is much stronger than asphalt or concrete. Sawn sides allow you to minimize seams and increase the durability of the coating.

• “french” – sawn top and bottom + split sides. «French» paving stones preserve the ancient charm of streets and squares paved with split stones. At the same time, it has a smooth flat and non-slippery surface, which is especially important for pedestrians. Therefore, this type of paving is used mainly for pedestrian areas. An additional factor when choosing such paving is its lower price compared to completely sawn stones.

Advantages of a paving stone from a natural stone:

• durability (squares of many European cities are paved with Ukrainian basalt and granite decades or even hundreds of years ago; it easily withstands vibration and traffic loads, atmospheric processes);
• environmental friendliness (does not harm the environment unlike asphalt and other coatings);
• fast and simple paving (does not require special dimensions), which is especially important for the arrangement of narrow medieval streets and courtyards of private houses;
• possibility of reuse (common in European cities is the practice of reconstruction of ancient squares and streets with cobblestones, which lay underfoot for many years);
• ability to create a variety of patterns and mosaics through a combination of stone of different breeds and colors.
